Work alongside experienced Wildlife Veterinarian an assist in animal treatments and the capture, handling and relocation of several different species in his day to day call outs. What better way to get up close to wild African game species.

 

You will learn about disease control, veterinary drugs and their uses, assisting in game capture, help with medical work. Wildlife vets work in field on private farm land. In field veterinary work can be time consuming and rewarding at the same time once an animal is treated or re-located. You will be responsible for ensuring that the animals treated are comfortable, monitoring the effet of anaesthesia on vital signs, such as respiratory and heart rate. You will also be responsible for assisting in the preperation and administration of low schedule drugs.

 

While working in a professional environment you will always be given a briefing before you go out into the field, to explain the drugs that will be used..

Veterinary work is essential to the preservation and protection of rare endangered endemic to Africa.

 

Not call out is ever routine and volunteers would need to be versatile to all situations.
